Malaysia’s leading ‘Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery Conference and Exhibition’ returns for its second year

The AMSC 2023 organised by Deltus Sdn Bhd and MSAM brought together leading doctors and top global specialists in the field of medical aesthetics across the globe, and was officiated by the Health Ministry Medical Practice Division director Dr Mohamed Iqbal Hamzah (eighth from right).

The Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery Conference and Exhibition (AMSC 2023) returned for its second instalment this year on July 14-15 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) to elevate the aesthetic medicine, surgery and dermatology fields.

AMSC 2023 was organised by Deltus Sdn Bhd and the Malaysian Society of Aesthetic Medicine (MSAM) and drew in attendances from leading doctors and global experts from all over the world. The exhibition successfully gathered top global medical aesthetics doctors and specialists to share their expertise.

“The AMSC 2023 conference is a one-stop platform for the globally evolving industry of aesthetic medicine,” said MSAM president Dr Masilamoney Asirvatham during the launch on July 14.

“By bringing together world-renowned doctors, general practitioners, aesthetic physicians, surgeons, dermatologists, pharmacists, gynaecologists, dentists, experts and thought-leaders as well as advanced technology on a single platform, the aesthetic medicine and surgery sector will thrive with the seamless exchange of the latest research, knowledge, emerging trends, ideas, best-practices, techniques and technologies.

“It will also facilitate the growth of the aesthetic medicine and surgery industry in Malaysia and Asean,” he added.

Alongside the conference was an exhibition hall where attendees got the opportunity to network and gain updates and trends on the latest products. The exhibition featured 50 sponsors and exhibitors representing hundreds of brands and products. Their booths included a wide range of products and featured the most recent innovations and cutting-edge technologies in aesthetic medicine and surgery, designed to treat and enhance aesthetics from head to toe.

Billed as the most prestigious aesthetic medicine and surgery event in Asean, the event saw some 1,000 delegates and buyers, with more than 110 globally-renowned speakers who presented and discussed 50 symposium sessions of more than 200 topics featuring case studies, scientific programmes, business updates and developmental topics.

Prior to the launch of the AMSC 2023 was the first-ever pre-conference cadaver dissection hands-on training known as the ‘Anatomy Masterclass’.

It was held a day before on July 13 at the Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM Advanced Surgical Skills Centre in Kuala Lumpur. Guided by five top medical professionals, the course provided live hands-on training for every participant on fresh cadavers, with in-depth discovery of each layer of the face from the temple and forehead to the midface, chin and jawline.

The session allowed practitioners to refine their techniques and precision guided by expert instructors, and covered areas including anatomical precision, understanding anatomical structures and vascular complications. Comprehensive knowledge of facial anatomy will enable physicians to minimise the risk of complication and provide the best outcomes for patients.

Apart from conferences and plenary sessions, attendees also got the chance to experience the exhibition which featured 50 sponsors and exhibitors representing hundreds of brands and products. Their booths included a wide range of products and featured the most recent innovations and cutting-edge technologies in aesthetic medicine and surgery, designed to treat and enhance aesthetics from head to toe.

The AMSC gala night also had a Best Dressed competition with prizes up for grabs for the winners.

AMSC 2023 then concluded with a gala dinner themed ‘Asian Elegance’ that presented an unforgettable evening of food, entertainment, opulent giveaways and more networking opportunities at one of the city centre’s most luxurious hotels, the Grand Hyatt Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

Post-event, AMSC 2023 held a one-day theory and practical course on facial ultrasound. The course had been designed to make participants ready for the use of facial ultrasound imaging in their own offices.

For the upcoming edition in 2024, the highly-anticipated AMSC 2024 will be even grander in scale with its collaboration with the International Society for Dermatologic and Aesthetic Surgery (ISDS). The Malaysia-first event will be held next year from Sept 19-21 at KLCC.

ISDS associate executive director Dr Sonja Sattler (second from left) and AMSC co-founder and organiser Gary Chai (third from left) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Deltus Sdn Bhd and ISDS to mark their collaboration. The MoU was witnessed by MSAM honourary secretary Dr Chu Kooi Yen (far left) and MSAM president Dr Masilamoney Asirvatham (right).

“As we embark on this transformative journey, AMSC 2024 and ISDS will aim to be the largest industry gathering in the region, bringing together luminaries in the field and fostering a platform for cutting-edge research, advancements and best practices. Join us for this extraordinary event that promises to revolutionise the future of aesthetic medicine, surgery and dermatology”, said AMSC co-founder and organiser Gary Chai.

AMSC scientific director Dr Lim Ting Song (second from left) and Health Ministry Medical Practice Division director Dr Mohamed Iqbal Hamzah (third from left) believe that AMSC is a great platform to foster collaboration between different fields of aesthetic medicine.

AMSC scientific director Dr Lim Ting Song added, “The 42nd annual meeting of the ISDS International Society for Dermatologic and Aesthetic Surgery will be held this year from Sept 28 to 30 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“Delegates will find the academic programme to be of the highest calibre with outstanding world-class experts delivering the latest developments in cutting-edge patient care. We look forward to a bigger AMSC 2024 in collaboration with ISDS next year,” he said.
